Also I meant to add, today marked the beginning of Deepavali. Walking around Penang, we saw it being celebrated throughout little India. "Deep/dip means "light of the dharma", and avali means "a continuous line". The more literal translation is a very good festival or "rows of clay lamps". Deepavali, or Divali, is a major Indian festival, and a significant festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. Today it is celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs across the globe as the "Festival of Lights,"where the lights or lamps signify victory of good over the evil within every human being."It was very cool because there were lights everywhere and music and people celebrating. Weird going to little India in Malaysia!
